Compassionate support for young people and the people who care for them.

Services

  • Therapy

It’s a good time to seek support if your child’s mental health is getting in the way of them doing the things they want to be doing, like making friends, sleeping, participating in certain activities, or succeeding in school. I provide evidence-based therapeutic support that is developmentally appropriate and client centered. I draw on cognitive behavior therapy, emotion focused approaches, and mindfulness.

Sessions are 50 minutes in length, and begin with an initial session to gather information. For young children, the first session is typically a parent-only session, whereas older children and teens are usually present for the first session. The number of sessions varies, depending on a variety of factors.

  • Psychoeducational Assessments

When there is a question related to a child’s academic performance or cognitive abilities, a psychoeducational assessment can help to provide some understanding and recommendations for support.

A psychoeducational assessment typically begins with a parent interview, includes a review of relevant records (e.g., school reports, IEPs, and/or previous assessments), questionnaires, and direct testing. Testing is typically completed in several 2-3 hour sessions. Results of the testing will be shared with the family in a summary meeting and a written report. The psychologist is available to share the results with school personnel as well.

  • Parenting support

You may feel helpless and worried when you see your child struggling. It can also feel frustrating when you can see that anxiety is getting in their way, but are not sure how to best support your child. Or you might feel like you’ve lost your way, and don’t know which way to go to regain balance in your relationship with their child.

My aim is to support caregivers in feeling confident in their parenting role, while also staying true to their parenting style.
